NRF 2025: AI-Powered Tools Reshape the Retail Landscape

While there is no shortage of retail conferences and tradeshows worldwide, NRF always stands apart. The energy, the who’s who of retail, and the sheer number of vendors displaying their wares make it a can’t-miss event on the annual retail calendar.

Held January 12-14 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NRF 2025 brought together over 40,000 attendees, solidifying its reputation as the premier event for retailers.

Unsurprisingly, AI was the central theme this year, with conversations focusing on its role in transforming every facet of retail — from product discovery and inventory management to hyper-personalized shopping experiences and, of course, price optimization. The event revealed an industry at a crossroads, balancing the imaginative possibilities of AI with the practicalities of delivering meaningful outcomes.

When we look back at our NRF 2025 experience, three key takeaways stand out:

1. AI Pricing in Action: How Retailers — and Their Customers — Are Benefiting

We hear it from retailers all the time, and we see it in the data: Leveraging AI for price optimization delivers extraordinary value. Done right, it boosts profits, margins, category growth, and market share. But more importantly, it builds shopper trust, improving price perception and driving long-term loyalty.

At NRF 2025, we were thrilled to see this story told on the main stage. Jennifer de Veer, Strategic Pricing Manager, and Edward Wood, Vice President of Merchandise Support of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (The Exchange), shared their incredible journey of leveraging Revionics’ AI-powered pricing technology to transform their business.

In their session, “The Exchange Transforms Pricing with Predictive and Generative AI to Better Serve Customers,” Jennifer and Edward discussed The Exchange’s mission to provide competitively priced merchandise for the military community. They highlighted how AI has helped them:

  • Improve sales and promotional effectiveness
  • Streamline pricing processes
  • Delight the families they serve globally

Their story was inspiring, underscoring the profound impact AI can have on both operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Jennifer and Edward’s generosity in sharing lessons learned and actionable strategies left the audience with tangible takeaways.

A replay of the session is available below, and we encourage everyone to watch it. Thank you to Jennifer, Edward, and the entire Exchange team for your partnership and for sharing your journey so others can benefit.

2. Agentic AI: The Future of Retail Pricing Is Here

If you’ve attended NRF before, you know it’s a tradition for tech vendors to unveil major innovations — and Revionics was no exception. On January 12, we introduced our bold vision for the future of retail pricing: a platform that harnesses the full power of predictive, generative, and agentic AI.

Revionics General Manager Scott Zucker captured the significance of this vision: “The future of retail pricing is agentic. Both the industry and our customers are looking to us to introduce virtual pricing agents that can make decisions and execute tasks, freeing up retailers’ pricing teams to focus more time on strategic initiatives.”

One highlight of this vision is a multi-agent pricing system, designed to help retailers efficiently manage, optimize, and analyze pricing decisions.

We also unveiled Revionics Conversational Analytics, a breakthrough GenAI-powered capability that lets users explore their data through natural language. With Conversational Analytics, customers can:

  • Ask questions of their data in natural language
  • Receive actionable insights quickly
  • Lower the barriers to data exploration
  • Reduce time to information

This represents a significant milestone on our AI journey, empowering pricing teams to make faster, smarter decisions while staying focused on the big picture.

3. Powering Innovation Through Partnerships: Revionics and Google Cloud

Strong partnerships are key to driving innovation, and our collaboration with Google Cloud was showcased at NRF 2025.

On January 12, Google Cloud’s Paul Tepfenhart, Director of Global Retail Strategy & Solutions, published a blog post that explored how Google Cloud partners such as Revionics are delivering novel AI solutions to customers.

During NRF, Revionics’ Josh Oettle, SVP of Product Management and Engineering, and Aakriti Bhargava, VP of Product Engineering and AI, joined Google Cloud in their booth. They presented several sessions on how technologies like Google’s Gemini and Vertex are being utilized in Revionics’ price optimization solutions, enabling customers to interact with their data using natural language search.
